Compensation and Benefits Information: This position is unpaid.

Location Commitment: Due to the high degree of interaction with other sub-teams, physical hardware, and aircraft for this position, it is required that the co-op students are available to come to the bay (E5 1006) daily during the week. Our lab equipment, hardware, and aerial vehicles are in our bay which will be required for job responsibilities.

Time Commitment: You will have very flexible hours as you desire and are free to set your own schedule, but we will expect you to be available for some of our team meetings which tend to take place in the evenings and , flight tests which occur infrequently over the weekends, and a daily 1:1 with your manager.

Team Summary: Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG) is a student design team at the University of Waterloo competing annually in the Aerial Evolution Association of Canada's Student Competition. We are a passionate group of students focused on innovating the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle industry. We take pride in building as much of our systems ourselves including developing an inhouse autopilot, frame, and computer vision software, and electronics. The electrical team is responsible for electronic systems architecture, custom hardware designs, and validation of WARG’s aerial vehicles and ground stations.

Job Responsibilities: Will include a subset of the following depending on co-op interest.

  • Design & validate custom buck converter PCBA ? ← MORE TBD, document, validate, and integrate a custom buck converter printed circuit board assembly for our ground system and/or testing aircraft.

  • Design, document, validate, and integrate CAN controlled peripherals for our competition aircraft.

  • Architect and Integrate electronic systems (i.e. video transmission subsystem and sensor subsystems) into competition and testing aircraft.

  • Write and maintain project documentation for all projects using Confluence.
