F24 Progress

  • Overview:

    • Made a bunch of boards (20 ish boards ordered!)

    • Massive bringup term

    • Peggy is wired

    • Lots of CAN boards

    • Onboarded two new leads

    • Made meetings longer and better

    • Lots of new members

  • Tracking antenna

    • Before last term only had first design

    • Brought up first design and found issues

    • Working on bringing up new revision

    • Might not be used for comp → still worth working on for R&D

  • LED board

    • Ordered rev 3 (non motor mount)

    • Ordered and brought up rev 4 (with motor mount)

    • Ordered rev 5 (high prio at end of F24)

    • These are targeting realism points at comp

    • How much firmware support do we really need here?

    • EE and firmware kinda decoupled on this project

    • Keeping this around as a longer term program would be nice

    • Should make these airframe specific (integration is important)

  • Eclipse

    • 6s servo module ordered → can be brought up

    • 6s power module → has this been validated

    • need to do harnessing

    • get 6s servo module functioning this term

    • Not that much work here

  • How are we prioritizing things?

    • Comp stuff should always come first

    • Tentative rank: comp > eclipse > tracking antenna ?

W25 Goals

  • Peggy 2

    • Water controller → rev 2 prob doesn't need to change for payload changes

    • Water controller would be nice to get going

  • Eclipse

    • Eclipse project manager might be nice

    • PM can do syncs with people working on eclipse

    • End of Feb for mech fully complete

  • Change how PMs work:

    • Eclipse PM (bring up, validation, and harnessing) → able to assign boards to people

    • Peggy 2 PM → assign tasks like water controller, LED board

    • Not giving people the answers → giving them questions to figure out

    • Want to make it seem like people came to an idea themselves

    • If still waiting on mech, get more people involved with the ideation process

    • Timelines are important to ensure that things happen

Blockers

  • Need to be a bit more in tune with EFS

    • EFS gets hit with “can you write firmware” all of a sudden

    • Need to work on giving them advanced notice

    • 6s servo module for example

    • Get them more involved in the boards that we make

  • Mech

    • What is the board mount for eclipse?

    • Sketch is WIP in arch doc

    • 30 mm grid → dedicated mount for pix

    • Taping servo board to servo?

    • ESC case in the works

    • Push for more details in meeting → first eclipse sync

Stepping Down Plans

  • Ryan last in person term W25

    • Play it by ear after that

  • Leadership interest form

    • 2 responses saying they’d like to become leads in the future

    • Maybe work on bringing someone up at the end of this term?
