Phoenix Summary

  • Mass produce Phoenix parts once PID tuning rig is tested with the current body design

  • Mech meeting this morning building new phoenix body with mounting holes for PID tuning rig. PID tuning brackets also printed and ready to be used

Next steps:

  • Check in with firmware to make sure they're ready to start tuning near the end of the week (Dependent on the PID tuning rig being done)

  • Get WARG transport Canada account to register Phoenix for eventual outdoor test flights

Conops Planning

Planning and meetings for initial competition aircraft completed

  • Went generally well

  • Breaking up into groups was good, but the lecture hall style was not ideal for it

  • People tended to talk about designs, not the topic at hand. We needed to structure the discussion better.

  • This should have been scheduled before the conops even came out so that we were ready the day they were released.

    • Same can be said for the bootcamp recruitment. Having stuff ready a week before they came would have been incredibly helpful

  • Ideas submission format was not great

Next steps:

  • Create a document outlining the intended airframe design for the team. Hamza will do this

  • Start creating timelines/deadlines for the various projects associated with the competition (and put them together)

  • Start drafting conops report

Pilot training

  • Happening as we speak. Trying to do weekly practice flights

RF equipment

  • New vtx equipment selected and to be ordered. Initial testing with the RF900 through mavlink and pixhawk was successful.

  • Outlined timelines to CV team (GUI layout done by end October, Telemetry integration by end of year, whole system done by end Jan)

  • Need to get info on the telemetry pipeline for CV development
