Progress this term

  • Bring-up of boards for comp:

    • Tacking antenna: new rev on next board order, should be a proper board, replacing fuse to be one chip

    • Lighting board: next rev for new board order, hoping to get it done this term

    • 6S servo module: new rev with midterm board order, changing buck, indicator LEDS, connector placement.

    • RPI interface rev B: working on Houston, one ready for Peggy

    • ESC CAN adapter: firmware testing happening now, done electrically

    • Single servo driver: tested buck, firmware testing next

    • GPS breakout (WIP): new GPS module from AliExpress (big blocker)

    • 6S power module (WIP): one side is done, next side to be done tomorrow, firmware to start testing shortly → should be ready for fixed wing by EOT

  • Leadership on the team:

    • PM setup is working really well

    • Room for improvement for how we choose PM roles

Plans going forward

  • Need to work on getting PMs involved in other projects

    • Get PMs more involved in team leadership

    • Validation and testing PMs being separate didn’t work as well

    • Being more intentional with choosing PM roles

    • Daniel Puratich Maybe only have PMs assigned to projects and not roles?

      • It’s nice when people get to own a project and the whole process

    • PMs for a certain role/job should not stop → maybe we make a distinction between the two?

    • Make it so more people are PMs of projects

    • Maybe it makes sense to have two bringup PMs?

  • Meghan Dang Lead bring up

    • Slowly give more tasks → will have more time in a few weeks

    • This week: setup the meeting minutes for weekly meeting

    • Next week: help run the meeting

    • No set date for new role/title

  • Future projects before EOT

    • Meghan Dang planning next EE social → TQD

    • Bringing up new revisions (6S servo, tracking antenna)

    • Not ordering the boards assembled → maybe reconsider? Probably worth it for basic passives

    • Think about copper bird for eclipse → wait for funds for Pixhawk? Could take peggy 1 pix

    • Sensor cluster probably not in for midterm board order

    • Make a priority list for what we want to get done after midterm board order

Action Items

  • Setup at least one subteam social before the end of the term.

    • Maybe after a work session, but just get your team together?

    • Can delegate scheduling out to a member or PM as well, doesn’t need to load leads.
