General updates

  • 2024-03-16 Pegasus VTX + Houston Auto Flight Test

  • Flight recap!

    • VTX on pegasus worked, but OSD cut out.

      • likely due to noise in cables (cables too long)

    • LTE cut out a couple times, did not reconnect.

      • trying to fix: disable cell tower switching, etc.

      • If need be, RFDs as backup

    • Auto landing worked on houston!

    • Pathing (waypoint upload to mission planner) worked on houston

Propulsion + Control

Action items / blockers:

  • Check LED board progress

  • Ordered XT30 for gemini board, don’t know when it will arrive

  • LED board discussion this week

Updates:

  • < Decision documentation >

Mech

Electrical

Batteries Ordered

8x 6200mAh 6S 60C LiPo batteries have been ordered and should arrive this week

Mech

Houston Rangefinder Mount

  • Almost complete, can be ready for next flight test if needed

Temporary mount exists

Design exists, can get this on Houston in the next 2 weeks (requires also editing landing gear)

Electrical

Rangefinder Harness

  • waiting for rangefinder order to arrive

  • it has arrived! Ready to work on. Would be cool to have ready for this weekend

EFS

OFS ConfigStill needs to be done. Looking for someone willing to take on this task.

Cameron configured it last week before flight test

  • Heard the OFS wasn’t working well in the flight test?

  • left on ‘op flow only’ settings

Any more sensors that need to be configured this week? no

Autonomy

Video System

Action items / blockers:

Updates:

Mech

Mounts

  • Will work on video system mounts for OSD and mux if needed

VTX mount being worked on

We need a new mount that has both cameras nice and close together to reduce wire runs. Will discuss in mech meeting.

Electrical

VTX Wiring

  • Aiming to reduce noise in the VTX , OSD, and mux wiring has been redonecamera muxing harness, shorter lengths == less strange noise / interference

EFS

OSD config

  • OSD configuration is done and documented

OSD Configuration and Testing

MUX config

  • video mux config done and also updated the AUX in two controllers

  • Channel 6…. is the configed as video aux from what I read in the discord

Heard OSD got cut off in the flight test

    • being solved by mechanical and electrical

    Autonomy

    LTE Communication

    • Profiled image encoding for PNG, AVIF, HEIF

      • HEIF ran into an issue

    • PR is up for writing the module to send the compressed image to the ground stationAll image format encoder have been benchmarked on raspberry pi

      • HEIF took too long, JPEG was fastest

to discuss more in auto meet. probably will use jpeg for image encoding

    CV camera works (thumbs up)

    Command + Telem

    Action items / blockers:

    • Check gemini case status

    Updates:

    Mech

    Gemini case (question)

    someone is working on this

    Electrical

    ELRS Gemini PCB

XT30 still has not arrived yet. Reordered more connectors

    EFS

    Gemini Telem DebugELRS for comp

assigned. Just started, pull logs from tx16s recently.

    Improved LRS

Still no on assigned. Probably will not be done for this comp cycle.

    Gemini Integration

How is the case going? Need to start putting things(like fans) together.

    Autonomy

    Pathing

    Task 1

    • Code is under way, working on modules since they will still be useful in the future

    • Also looking into ways we can complete Task 1 in Mission Planner

    Task 2

    • Ready to be flight tested will be focusing on tracking antenna tasks. No longer on Gemini telemetry debug

    • Currently have no one working on Gemini telemetry debug or LRS 💀

    Autonomy

    Pathing

Pathing works as expected on Houston during flight test

TODO: Integrate auto landing with pathing

Last command in sequence was return to launch point. We need to use the auto-land sequence. Ideally run this during next weekend’s flight test (comp sim)!

    Airframe - General

    Action items / blockers:

    • Waterproofing, new cabin, seats, cargo area

    Updates:

    • < Decision Documentation >

    Mech

    Pegasus 2.0

    • New Pegasus is making progress, machining of center block is complete

    • Only arm connectors and landing gear parts are left, assembly should begin soon

    • Hardened steel gears for 3D printer have been ordered to allow us to print using carbon fibre filament. They will be installed when they arrive and we will print the remaining parts for Pegasus 2.0

    ^ last week

    Cabin being redesigned

Center block and arm connectors are done

    Assembly beginning soon!

    Waiting on landing gear redesign

Waterproofing to discuss in mech meet Conall Kingshott

    Electrical

    Schematics

Pegasus schematic cleaned up, comments left by Daniel were addressed. Mena will continue to update schematic with sensors.

    • ongoing: still moving things around. adding rangefinder, etc.

    houston harness cleanup

    • shortening the cables

    EFS

    Lighting Board

    • Owen successfully flashed the firmware on the board, but the lights are not working consistently

    • Figure out there is signal integrity issue, still don’t know the root cause

    Mech

    Improvements

    • First prototype complete. Currently working on improvements with mech members. Having some issues with the yaw-servos. Mounting needs stabilization improvements.

    • Hopefully done by end of this week. Plan on ordering sheet metal and machining as soon as CAD for improvements is finished

    • Talked with Yuchen Lin, EFS will will wait when improvements are complete to start testing. However, EFS will not be ready until data is retrieved from next flight test.

    • Thank you everyone for the help thus far!

    Electrical

    custom PCB

First round of PCB reviews have started.
    • Mounting improvements for stabilization almost complete. Need to double check measurements for yaw-servo dimensions with CAD. Going to order metal by either today or tomorrow.

    • May need help with machining this weekend as I need to head home. Will reach out to mechanical members shortly.

    • Assuming all goes, will be finished this weekend hopefully Saturday.

    Question for EFS:
When will testing for the Yagi Antennas be ready?

    • haven’t been tested

    • it’s ok to just throw them on untested

    Electrical

    custom PCB

    needs to be reviewed

    Arduino antenna

Nathan Green made an arduino tracking antenna PCB

Nolan Haines reviewing it a bit

    Nice (thumbs up)

    EFS

    Arduino Tracking Antenna

    • I think they got most of the basic functionalities done

    • Still struggle with GPS data reading, waiting for the new GPS to arrive and integrate it into the systemHeard they integrated the new NEOM8Q GPS into the tracking antenna, and it had worked well

    • What is more needed for arduino tracking antenna?

    GPS working well

EFS will test the yagi. how to test it well?

    • if we have all the cabling we need

      • ELRS gemini link stats working

      • logging all these link stats

    • fly 1 path with omnis

    • fly 1 path with yagis

    • see if there is improvement in signal!

omnis vs yagis swap out completely. then mix and match to see what happens. (optimize it!)

yagis - show how well tracking works

    omnis - baseline.

goal is to be better than just the omnis

    Autonomy

    General Updates

Autonomy Image Labeling Social? - tabled for now

    Flight test schedule

    • Comp sim 3 - next term

      • rock and roll

Want to run tests in as many conditions as possible.

    • hot weather

    • terrible weather

    • rain if waterproofing is working ok (kinda risky though)

    • comp sim where you simulate certain failures: LTE dropout, device failure, telem drop, etc. nail down all the contingency plans. break out the redundant systems

      • important to simulate this with flight line team.

    • auto landing

    • pathing

    • vtx system
