W25 Leadership Plans

  • Alison maybe steps down if going back to Cali, maybe not

    • Difficult since all Leads and PMs are on the same stream

    • Alison tentatively staying on until the end of term

  • Smile to stay one for another two terms

  • Evan is a good choice for future lead-> need to discuss with him to determine his interest

Fixed Wing

  • Timeline thoughts

    • Start manufacturing halfway thru the term.- Smile

    • Push pple to work faster, set realistic deadlines for projects. Check up on people more. - Smile

  • what’s needed from other subteams?

    • Patience. I think all avionics are finalized, so not much else needed. - Smile

Pegasus 2

  • What’s needed to finish it?

    • Attaching the landing gear to the x-frame → done

    • Pixhawk mount ready, need to 3D print stand-offs → done

      • Can we use those gummies here

    • print all electronic cases, ensure we have all bolts and nuts needed to mount PCBs

    • Weatherproofing needs to be manufactured. Thermoformed solution can be as heavy as 400g. Another option is to make a dome out of frame, maybe balsa wood or LW PLA and wrap the frame w plastic. I feel like we have to be realistic here and be willing to add minimum 300g.

      • Yea the extra weight is worth it for weatherproofing - Daniel

Houston

  • There might not be any bandwidth for this with Peggy 2 + Fixed Wing

Tracking Ant

  • ready

    Ready to FT?

    • Technically

Mechanically, yes. However, mech would like to do a design review to identify and fix some design problems.

      • Proper supports to maintain the antenna’s pitch level

      • Baseplate not very steady. The normal vector of the top face of the plate can deviate from the yaw axis.

      • Look into servos that have an absolute position (continuous rotation with absolute position -Nathan)

  • Thoughts on taller towers and new antennas

    • Not right now, get the existing one working

Work Sessions

  • Wanna go hard on the work sessions esp. on manufacturing side. Smile kinda slacked off during the summer because no manufacturing needed to b done and people can just work on CAD from home. People aren’t as involved when there aren’t work sessions. I can take the responsibility of running these sessions Saturday mornings - Smile

  • Office-hours style of drop-in help → for bootcamp or design questions

  • It’ll be easier with both of you onsite. -Daniel

Culture around nitpicks

  • Conversations happen every week → things are not listened to and don’t end up working

Leads Questions

  • Other sub-teams are not communicating about things that need to be added/changed ahead of flight tests.

    • Maybe changes are required for to the flight test docs → asking what is required from each subteam?
