Cornflakes

Alison Thompson

  • Rebuilt: frame, wings, cabin, horizontal and vertical stabilizers

  • Need to do: Mount back servos, nosecone, cabin lid, airfoils/wing extensions

  • Things to talk about:

    • Control rods (anyone know how to make them? I struggled to do it)

    • Better control horns (anyone have a good CAD file or can they be purchased with a quick turnaround?)

    Anyone insterested
      • petg trial?

      • @Luke **ADD TO CONFLUENCE + GRABCAD + ASANA ><**

      • Alison Thompson to provide old file

  • Anyone interested in coming in tomorrow to help? Need to pass off to EE ASAP

  • Flight-test on Saturday! Come see Cornflakes fly! (Megan with more details later lol)

Competition Frame updates

Megan Spee

Conall Kingshott

Cabin - skin, main cylinder build Conall Kingshott

  • Tube frame of cabin mostly built - need to replace two 3D printed joints

  • Skin is going to attach to foam ribs using velcro (Mostly done)

  • Will need some holes made for camera and mounting to frame.

Stiffener for Battery Compartment - Hrishik Patel

  • Design done, ready to be printed?

Landing gear - Alison Thompson

  • Mostly assembled, just got new prints done

  • Will be done once Cornflakes is done

  • Going to look into a stabilizer to run horizontally between both sides to stop them from bowing out on impact

Nose/tail - Andrew Wright

to glue second nose cone? (foam)

  • we have nose and tail

  • CF nose/tail project is continuing tho!

Avionics bay - Conall Kingshott

  • We’re gonna wait on the interface to be done for this. Dremel on fiberglass will be nasty.

(green star) composites room for any fiberglass and carbon fiber (CF).

(green star) PLEASE be safe lol. these are carcinogens

don’t do this if you don’t feel safe!

Bay door - Vishal Jayakumar

  • it’s printed in lightweight PLA, just hasnt been fixed to door. Hrishik Patel was doing cabin assem, can possibly help with attaching door

  • pieces are glued together- looks scuffed from sanding, might be spray painted

  • We need a piece of carbon fiber for this (maybe Andrew Wright )

    • check CAD for size

    • friday

CV camera mount - Arjun Mandair

  • Printed and done now?

  • Test fit

  • Will need holes in plates for mounting, and skin for visibility.

space between camera, fuselage may change for focus changes. only by a few millimetres according to Xierumeng

Procurement for grommet. forward details to Megan Spee

PETG camera mount printed (smile)

** Reminders for Comp Frame for General Visibility **

We will need to implement:

  • optical flow sensor on bottom

  • 360-degree-visibility LED lights. must be done in junction with EE

  • forward and downward camera - is this accounted for? - front camera into foam nose cone Megan Spee

  • airspeed sensors need to go on icarus

  • antenna mounting in general

  • arm/disarm switch on the tail - EE junction

Flight tests and comp simulations

Megan Spee

Flight test this saturday March 11

via flight test channel - “the plan is to test that cornflakes can fly reliably in a fixed wing configuration, as well as gather some preliminary battery life data.”

Let’s not crash! Alison Thompson won’t be around next week!

another flight test March 18

Tracking antenna

Megan Spee Andy Zhang Jason Li

How’s this going Mech - Tracking Antenna

(cad sprint, sourcing components. Any pitfalls or open questions)

cad concept was made for EFS/CV

moving CAD to Solidworks

Jason working on PCB mounting

Adding info from google docs to confluence

waiting on components sourcing via EFS/Yuchen

Bounties!

Megan Spee

Conall Kingshott

  • No new bounties at the momentnew bounty

    • Angled Competition Drone Motor Mounts - 3 degrees inwards

    • Ryan Chan to offer cad/machining advice

    • front ones are reasonable

    • back ones clamp oddly around tube.

    • there are files grabcad but don’t overwrite these

  • Frame/Fuselage mounting brackets underway Andrew Wright

Outstanding:

  • cornflakes cabin?

  • Team sign

  • Wing ribs for cornflakes
