Link to calculations with flight time and comparisons to other motors: WARG Pheonix Motor Calculations

Why these motors?

...

Decision: We decided on the 2206 2300kv motor as it is able to support the necessary weight and is one of the cheaper motors. It also has a high enough speed that it can work with 5” props, allowing the drone total size to be smaller.

Relevant requirements and how they’re met:

  • The drone shall have a minimum 5 minute flight time: This is met with this drone using a 5000mAh battery, calculations are based on a max drone weight of 1.5kg and in the doc linked above

  • The airframe shall be as small as possible while being able to facilitate zp: Using these motors allows us to use 5” props which in turn means a smaller frame.
