HereThe bootcamp is an introductory task designed to give people joining WARG some hands-on exposure to the software and design standards they'll be working with on a subteam in WARG. These tasks are meant to give a variety of experience and expand your knowledge. If you’re a first year student looking to start out in a new industry we intend these bootcamp tasks to look great on your resume!
While the bootcamp is an individual task, fear not, we have a huge focus on mentorship - always feel free to ask for help! If you are experienced in a field this bootcamp will be easier though if you’re newer to the field expect it to take longer. Once you’ve completed a bootcamp you’ll be ready to have meaningful contributions to the team and jump straight into a task! The goal of the bootcamp is not to be a gatekeeper to the team, please ask for help, leads are available to provide sufficient mentorship for completion.
In this Confluence space, you'll find instructions for the team's various bootcamps. One should be completed by a new member before a task is assigned to themthey are formally a member of WARG. Bootcampers are completely welcome to attend meetings and help out informally with WARG tasks. For general (non-subteam specific) information regarding the bootcamp process please see Bootcamper Onboarding. Once you have completed a bootcamp please head to New Member Onboarding .
As we tend to update the bootcamps over time, be sure you are not doing a bootcamp that is in the Archived Bootcamps folder. When in doubt please ask your subteam leads!
WARG has been doing bootcamps in this format since it’s Rebirth in ~2020 ( History ) to much success as a way to onboard members. Each subteam adds their own flavor and best practices over time. Since then we have been evangelizing this onboarding method to other SDC teams due to the success we’ve found with it.
Check out each subteam’s bootcamp pages in the bar on the left.within this Confluence space and below:
