433MHz

  • 433MHz is very popular with long distance flyers

  • Superior long range performance and object penetration

900Mhz

  •  60+ mile range, can be used in mountainous and wooded areas with little to no effect on range

  • Lower frequency signal more easily penetrates walls and trees

2.4GHz

  • Most transmitters use the 2.4GHz band for communication

  • Equipment is pretty cheap, very common and provides great performance

  • Good 2.4GHz systems will exceed line of sight. Ranges of 1-3km are not uncommon for the better systems

5.8GHz

  • Pretty much useless to use this frequency to control the plane. It would likely be expensive and our video transmission system will probably be operating on 5.8GHz
