Overview

Audience: WARG leadership.

Candidates for the subteam lead role are evaluated by this criteria.

Criteria

It is recommended that the candidate be a current or former project manager.

Category

Able to:

Technical: Understand the system, in detail and as a whole, to constribute to its improvement.

  • Define and manage project objectives, scope, and plans

  • Understand how the various projects integrate together

  • Improve tooling?

Vision: Direction, growth, and development of the team.

  • Provide clear direction and goals for members and align them with the overall vision and goals of WARG

Initiative: Proactive action.

  • Identify and remove obstacles for members to complete work

  • Identify and mitigate project risks

  • Start new projects and take ownership of technical challenges of the system

  • Research and experiment with new technologies

Prioritization: Allocation of resources, due dates, and setting goals.

  • Estimate time and resource usage for projects

  • Reevaluate and take corrective action for projects that exceed time and resource estimates

  • Make decisions prudently with consideration to the impact of other projects and subteams

Collaboration: Communication, coordination, and leadership.

  • Lead by example and act as a role model

  • Communicate clear expectations, provide constructive feedback and recognize good performance

  • Provide guidance, constructive feedback, and opportunity for members to grow

  • Leverage the strengths and minimize weaknesses of members to complete work

  • Foster an environment of mutual respect and trust

  • Identify, address, and resolve interpersonal conflicts

  • Maintain clear lines of communication and an active presence

  • Tailor communication style to different audiences

  • Coordinate with other subteams

Administration

  • Organize and maintain accurate and up to date records

  • Schedule meetings and appointments

  • Handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally
