Presentation
Sales pitch but with evolution of proposal to final design (see Table 2 criteria for more detail).
We got 1st last year by following the rubric, let’s keep it up!
Realism
Objective scoring
Meets requirements (seats, windows, etc.).
Subjective scoring
Willingness of passengers to get in
LMFAO
Coffin design :)
Coolness
Streamlined (smooth and logical experience for passengers)
Tasks
5 person flightline crew
Scoring
Everyone’s so bad at being on time they actually put points on arriving 30 minutes before flight window .
Normal organization stuff (teamwork, vehicle easy to assemble/modify, checklists).
Task 1
Load 4 barbenheimers and cargo (500g total, 4 boxes, see paragraph 18 for dimensions and detail)
Takeoff speedrun to 1st waypoint
Altitude 200m (!)
Endurance run laps between ends of runway
Altitude up to us
Land at same point as takeoff (LAND ANYWHERE ELSE IS BASICALLY FAILURE)
Scoring
Speedrun
Endurance
WE ARE SCORED ON WEIGHT AAAAAA
Autonomy: Ez clap
Landing: Landing gear go brrr
Passengers and cargo secure: Just jam them in np
Task 2
Load barbierians and their boxes of rocks. Do the Annex C waypoints near the building with landing pads and then land at intended landing pad.
No diversion LFG!!!
Communicate events with the given callsign
Callsign given on Friday
Have 1 minute landing window (can land any other time, just lose points)
So we want to arrive early and then wait a bit before landing
Landing window given on Friday
Scoring
Waypoints: Ez clap
Autonomy: Clustering obsoleted RIP (still useful though)
Landing:
LZ Null: Too easy
LZ A: Like last competition
LZ B: Wall is close
LZ C: Wall AND ceiling is close
How fat is drone?
How accurate is GPS (wall clonk)
Timing: 1 minute window, ±5 minutes (linearly decrease max to 0 the further away it is).
Â
DO NOT ASK UNLESS ROUNDING IS CONFIRMED: How will the time be rounded to the 30 second increments? For example:
Away from the landing time window: 31 seconds early/late is the same as 60 seconds early/late.
Towards the landing time window: 31 seconds early/late is the same as 30 seconds early/late.
To the nearest increment: Which way is 15 seconds early rounded if this is the case? Which way is 15 seconds late rounded?
Something else?
Post flight report
90 minutes after task 2 flight window
Let’s get the cover page and task description banged out before competition
Task 1 results written on Saturday evening
Then we can spend all 90 minutes on task 2
