Custom Motor Controller
Responsible Person(s)
Designer: @Jason Skells
Mentor: @Sahil Kale
Firmware Engineer: TBD, do this
Principle Objective:
Design a custom motor controller for our rotorcraft vehicle, Project VANGUARD
Requirements:
The system shall be able to accomodate 24V
Stems from being able to accommodate a 6s battery
The system shall be capable of supplying currents of up to 40 A continuous
Requirement stems from Motor Calculations
The system should fit into a small form factor to be used on the arms of the frame
The system should not get hot (lol)
The system shall utilize an RC-Servo PWM control interface
Goals:
Rev 1:
This system will use an off-board MCU (preferably STM32)
No need to worry about logic-level voltage line (5V/3V3)
The system will accommodate requirements (1) and (2)
Rev 2:
TBD given results from Rev 1
Timeline:
MOSFET selection completed (Yay!)
Initial Schematic → Tuesday Meeting, Nov 23
Gate Driver Breakout into headers
MOSFET 3-phase AC bridge
Layout: TBD pending initial schematic review
Implementation Notes
Chip being used: DRV8353FS
