Wing Design

July 10

The main things to determine during wing design are the root foil, shape, and aspect ratio.

The root foil is set to NACA 2415 and the shape is rectangular. NACA 2415 is selected because of its well-rounded performance

Since a high lift to drag ratio is needed for the competition, the aspect ratio has to be high as well to provide more lift. Ths the Aspect ratio is set to 13

Aspect ratio is the square of the wingspan b divided by the wing area S

AS = b/S

Since the shape is rectangular, the wing area is the chord length times the wingspan.

The wingspan is set to 7ft or 2.13m (could change at a later date)

the chord length is 163.85mm
