Mech Program Standup S22
we doing good
big wins at comp
F22
chaotic
releasing of CONOPS - a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding
took a while to figure out goals/requirements for competition
once we sorted them out, then we got into good research timeline which we met
cad design also met timeline
November: good progress with manufacturing and prototyping
were able to fly prototype in Fall
W22
January waiting for flight test
first flight test was end of february/early march (really late)
iterated on frame to make it bigger
began looking at landing gear
tried to make arms lighter
second flight test with grabber and test weight
drone crashed
happened during finals week then finals stopped progress
one or two weeks before comp
grabber had final design]
made the decision to switch grabber to linear actuators in March, leading to discussions between FW and EE about controlling grabber
realized all hole measurements were all wrong
new arm design was too late to manufacture so we went back to old design
new landing gear design to accommodate arms
mech confused what boards were going on and off the drone
Action Items:
Robohub testing is indoors we need Netting
aggressive timeline on integration
more flight testing
leads in the loop
teamwide timeline
Moving on to new things
Recruitment
require more manpower for legacy/longterm project
being able to shift manpower around would be nice but we require more manpower
Mentorship - we are missing a more involved mentor
Action Items
documentation: philosophy, new member can build Vanny - draft everything, example of good documentation: Ethan
Mentorship - ask Ethan to roast us
Get new SW licenses for 2022: Matthew
Repair 3D printer
Bay organization - tape and markers, drag others
edit bootcamp to include documentation
