Setting Solidworks Default Templates

All CAD for WARG should be done using the WARG part, assembly, and drawing templates. These templates are on Solidworks PDM in the Templates folder. To set these as your default templates, follow the below instructions:

  1. Click the “System Options” on the menu bar. (the gear)

  2. Select “File Locations” from the left-side menu.

  3. Select “Document Templates” from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click the “Add” Button.

  5. Navigate to the Templates folder in PDM.

  6. Click “Select Folder”’. Windows might ask for admin access to the folder. Allow access. The templates folder is now linked and will be available when making a part.

  7. Now select “Default Templates” from the “System Options” side menu

  8. If you would like these templates to be used every time you create a drawing, assembly, or part (recommended if you mostly CAD for WARG, this will make your life easier):

    • If not already selected, ensure “Always use these document templates” is selected below the file paths

    • Click the three dots next to the file paths shown and select the WARG template. If you don’t see the WARG template, something has gone wrong in a previous step.

  9. If you would like to select a template to use each time (you MUST use the WARG templates for WARG CAD!) select “Prompt user to select document template”
