Monster Mount Modification

@Alison Thompson + @Smile Khatri

Task Description

NEW TASK

We now want to add the IR camera to the monster mount on the arm, the link to this camera is here: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/raspberry-pi/SC0873/17278646

PREVIOUS TASK

For comp 2024, a mount was designed to accommodate the $200 CV camera, 1D lidar, FPV camera, and an optical flow sensor. The mount was not used because the CV camera and 1D lidar was removed from Pegasus 1. This year, we want to mount the CV camera to test autonomous functions.

The objective of this task is to create a 3D printed fixture that accommodates the $200 CV camera and an Optical Flow Sensor. Also, if you think there is a better way to mount the $200 CV camera on Pegasus 2, then please feel free to bring it up!

You may take the existing monster mount design and modify it or, you may also design a new mount from scratch. If you choose the first option, please create a copy of the old CAD and do not modify the original CAD.

No part of the drone is within a 40 degree field of view of the $200 CV camera (refer to the CV camera documentation for specifics)

Design #1

For the first design I drew a lot of inspiration from the already existing mount made by @Smile Khatri. I used the same alignment for the CV and the OFS. The main differences between the two designs are that the new one only accomodates the CV and the OFS and it incorporates two holes for clevis pins to mitigate wobble. I also borrowed most if not all tolerances from previous models, so there might be some tolerancing left to do if the fit wasn’t the best with the last model.

There’s not that much to cover with this first prototype, but with further feedback and testing further issues might need to be addressed, such as wobble, tolerancing and rigidity.
