2023-03-16 - Icarus Architecture Sync. + Task Division
General Goals:
Update old Frosted Flakes block diagram to include all devices & sensors for competition\
Power architecture (where power comes from + where does it go, for every single power consuming device)
If possible have max. and nominal power consumption
Mechanical layout & positions of the devices (general locations & mounts for all devices)
Task 1: Updating Old Block Diagram
Following up with SysInt and all project owners to confirm the purpose & use of each sensor, how it’s going to be used
Indicate how everything is connected
What type of connector is needed for each harness must be indicated on block diagram at each connection point
Starting points:
@Michael Botros's list of every single device from the System Architecture doc (pasted above)
Discord RFC for sensors & peripherals (Discord - Group Chat That’s All Fun & Games)
Look up each product’s connection outputs
Task 2: Power Architecture
Define all power consuming devices and all power supplies/voltage rails available
Get the max. and nominal power consumption for these devices
Figure out what voltages to use for the architecture, figure out where each device will get its power from
Starting point:
List of all devices (sync with @Michael Botros, also see 2023 System Architecture under Architecture section, Airside Components)
Search up all the components, try to find datasheets/specs for them that define their input voltage ranges and range of load currents/power
Figure out what voltage rails we have available from PDBs, buck converters, and batteries, figure out how to power everything with as few voltage rails/complex power conversion as possible
Task 3: Mechanical Layout & Component Locations
Roughly define where all components will go
Work with onsite and mechanical people to figure out how we’ll attach things on
Draw a physical diagram of the competition airframe and define where things will go
Starting points:
Go onsite and see the competition airframe
Talk to people onsite, see how things are currently layed out on the testing airframe and how that’s been working out + what probably will need to change
Probably will need to sync with mechanical members/mech lead to get a good idea of how things are typically secured and where space is available
