look at motors from T-motors, xoar, kde, vertiq. T-motors had the cheapest options with decent specs
KV rating = the RPM per volt. High KV → smaller props, less V req’d. Smaller KV → larger props, more thrust.
Propulsion requirements:
Prop. diameter ~ 25 - 30% of wing span length
Minimum thrust to weight ratio of 0.8 : 1
Ideal power-to-weight ratio = 220 W/kg (for general and sport RC planes) Power to weight ratio in rc aircraft | The right motor and prop (joyplanes.com)
Battery Voltage = 22.2 V
Max current supplied must be 80% of the ESC’s rating Write From Scratch Using Grammarly's Generative AI (youtube.com)
Cost wise, AT3520 KV720 and AT3520 KV550 are both good options.
KV720 gives 200g more thrust, but is less efficient in power consumption and thrust/watt
AT3530 580KV is a good option too, more thrust
Investigate using drone motors later, they seem more efficient
APC 14 x 7 inch prop is good. There’s no strong correlation b/w prop diameter and wingspan, the prop depends on the motor and weight of the plane. However, 25 - 30% of wing span is acceptable for prop diameter.
