Airframe
Almost ready for design review. Flushing out the final features and integrating with the fuselage.
Will be ordering parts to manufacture soon.
Motor mount redesign in progress and finalizing location of sensors/batteries
need to be sure we get the correct type of motor for mounting
Landing gear
Considering to make the landing gear steerable so it does not veer off the runway at low speeds
Adding a steerable rear wheel will be easiest for implementation
Thoughts on making a plane w/o steerable wheel first and then seeing if we need a steerable one?
lock in steerable wheel, could use the same servo for the rudder and the wheel.
6S servo module also has an extra servo channel for this
Wings
Fixed up the rib design and currently still running through the FEAs for the ribs
Waiting for the ordered parts to come in so that we can test out the installation process of the wings
Still need to CAD stoppers to prevent the wings from slipping off the spar (e.g., cap and end stop)
Aileron CAD is a WIP; linkage is also going to be developed
Need to source an iron (CSA approved) for applying monokote/ultracote, thinking of a small travel sized one
Fuselage
General design of the shape is finished and currently we have members working on the individual cutout panels
Still need to determine how we’ll attach the fuselage to the plane
Empennage
Thushanth working on this rn. Plan is to make the H.S. and V.S. tapered to save some weight.
3D printed leading edges similar to the wing.
Mounting mechanisms wip
Timeline
Reasonable Deliverable Goals for this program?
Finished fixed wing by end of term is POR
Electronics
Status of hardware and firmware for this program
The below boards should be included
6S servo module
would be worth rolling out an updated rev if we can to fix a minor issue
Single Servo Driver
should be good, needs assembly.
6S power module
highest risk
lowest necessity
reviewed electronics POR
the weight of all the electronics not accounted for so far is probably around 1kg, should be within margin
can remove one battery
ESC
@Ryan Scomazzon to come back to us with what he wants to use
