Comp Design

• @Megan Spee payload updates?

  • ABS print in the bay now (holds max 2.7 L). Likely doesn’t need priming for material to be watertight, but would like to test with water hold overnight/long time to make sure.

  • designing “cap” for tank that will also attach to peggy arms (through the bottom plate).

  • Specced a bunch of fittings (Discord - Group Chat That’s All Fun & Games ) in linked thread. most are aquarium style fittings, but not sure how the seals will act on a 3d print. Would like to order them asap for testing!

    • Uses 1/4” OD tubing. also, if someone can double-check the water pump <> tube:

      • 1/2" female BSP -> 1/4" OD push to connect - uxcell 1/2 Inch BSP Female to 1/4 Inch OD Straight Quick Connect Water Purifiers Tube Fitting Push in to Connectors Water Hose Joint for RO Reverse Osmosis System 5pcs - because this one assumes BSP threads on the water pump, and I’m not 100% sure on that.

Eclipse (Fixed-Wing) Airframe

• Following fixed-wing sync discussion yesterday, might make adjustments to the airframe of Eclipse

  • POR is to use one battery now, can decrease size of the bottom plate or even get rid of it (this would require it being underneath pixhawk not sure about EMI issues)

    • No EMI issues w/ mounting Pixhawk above the battery confirmed by Daniel - Smile

• Tail boom support first version was made. Have some adjustments for @Sam Wong

  • Can probably use just one space now that we are only aiming for one battery. And if we switch to two batteries can make adjustments as necessary

Tracking Antenna

  • Integration is done with the main assembly with a few minor changes to the bottom plate.

  • Gemini Plate standoff mounts were added as well.

• Angle Limiter: I’ll order more material to waterjet because of tolerance

  • this looks good, doesn’t have to be remade right now

Fuselage

Wings

  • Didn’t fracture even at theoretical max lift force during takeoff

  • Possible fracture at higher lift forces occur at the cutout beside the spar cutout and closer to TE

    • This shouldn’t be a concern unless we go past our targeted velocity of 30m/s and undergo max lift

• Reviewing aileron design options

• Start manufacturing after midterms

Landing Gear

Fixed wing landing gear

• Front landing gear is done and cheese holes are added

• Rear landing gear CAD is nearly done

  • I’m currently using the HS - 311 Servo that we already have

  • I also added the CAD for the part to COTS PDM file

  • I’m going to be doing sims soon

• Possible to change front landing gear to 14 GA and run sims to see if it’s valid? Max Thickness we can bend, wanna see if we could go w/ this option - Smile
