Flight Test Debrief

  • How did January 19th FT go?



    • Did we resolve model match issues?

      • @Yuchen Lin says it is not model match as it is able to pair

      • Need to look into antenna issues

  • What can we do better in future?

  • Did CV camera work?

Task 1

  • When will filter and camera be assembled?

    • Asked mech for help, Nathan printed first “mount” uploaded

    • Same camera, filter might not be the same (assign to figure this out)

    • Printed by Tuesday (depending on if same filter), can Autonomy mount themselves?

  • When can a full mock task 1 be run? With IR filter and multiple beacons?

    • Planned for weekend of Feb 1st and 2nd

    • To be practiced with pilots

    • Autonomous movement isnt priority since no points (only autonomous coords)

  • Are all autonomy workers merged? (System ready to operate at competition level?)

    • Not quite, aiming to complete by next flight test Jan 26th

    • Drone sending madlink portion remaining (done in separate tests, not in competition code)

  • Is the new airframe being pursued or not?

    • Things purchased/shipping on its way

    • Important for tuning, not going into comp

  • Are camera mounts completed for peggy 2?

    • Camera mount for IR, on the monster mount once smaller mount is printed (filter stuff)

    • Plan for the IR camera, will ensure fix for op flow orientation before moving forward

    • Should be printable within the next week

Task 2

  • What is mech hard deadline for camera mounting?

    • End of next week goal, check in with Camilo

    • Manual flying, release and loading TBD based off conops

  • Do we have working single servo driver boards?

    • If not, when?

    • Do we really need? can we run off pixhawk?

      • Should run the math off this

    • Plan to use scope design servo (continuous rotation Ryan can check?), figure out what’s going on with pump first

    • Check pix current rating to see if we can just run off pix

    • One module working, getting other two working

      • Derek to follow up with Hardy (board and candshot)

      • Maybe assemble another board?

  • When will payload be ready for FT?

    • Design changes done in CAD on the 27th

    • Assemble by the 10th of Feb?

    • We need a better tune before these can be super safely tested

    • Goal around Feb 13th

    • Figuring out current pump

    • Tested pump. Can do 1.5m suction and 3m pushing. Next step would be to test 3m suction so the pump can be mounted to the drone.

    • Look into how long of a tube we need

    • 12V needed on drone for the pump. 12V is on PDB? Check if there is room for more current.

    • Plan to use two 12V pumps and go back to a 12 and 6 if needed

    • See how fast the new pump is

    • current sense is highest priority

    • Adding 48V input support to water controller? a lot of effort but would be cool.

  • Email AEAC if we can get part marks from just getting into position

  • When will tracking antenna be tested next?

    • Working on fixing issues, personnel interested but not priority

    • Putting gemini on tracking antenna controller?

  • When will tuning practice occur for EFS?

    • Is this happening on a new airframe?

    • Delegated today to IMU and sensorfusion in sensorpilot, taking on tasks in parallel, creating a solution for comp

  • What is status of LED system?

    • new boards when?

  • Is there a plan for packing the drone?

    • deadlines and timelines for seeing it come apart and stuff

Flight Test Planning

Pegasus issues

  • Having ELRS connection issues with Pegasus 2

    • Need to check if model match if off for the drone itself, but it is off on the Beta FPV backpack

    • Same binding phrase

    • Using the gemini-mavlink model on controller

    • IR camera testing

      • Need to take CV camera off and put IR camera on

        • @Camilo Artigas Alos i (evan) can call you one day and explain what needs to be done to replace the cam with the IR one

  • Flight test weekend of February 1st and 2nd

    • Need to check something before finalizing which day, but @Evan Janakievski can run this test most likely
