Mechanical

Notes on manufacturing status.

 

Airframe

  • manufacturing work is done

  • no updates on fabrication side of things

  • landing gear won’t be on airframe for easy wiring

  • Will be assembled when spar is deburred

    • When would EE like it ready for harnessing?

      • For Feb 11 work session

Wing

  • Spar had a wiring slot added to it, just needs to be deburred

  • will electrical tape the wires

landing gear

  • landing gear adapter arrived and safely stored in the red toolchest

  • Has to be assembled and mounted to the air frame

  • waiting on one part to be water jet for rear landing gear

    • waiting on this order, around 1 week

  • front landing gear assembled

Empennage

  • horizontal and vertical stabilizers complete

  • control surfaces printed, and linkages made as well

  • Only left to glue the vertical stabilizer to the horizontal stabilizer and test the servos for control surface deflection

Avionics/EE updates

  • Harness Fixed Wing 2025 | Maiden Flight Electronics System Diagram

    • Will follow up on harness schematic tasks

      • quality of life testing blocked by ee, not enough hardware

      • bringing up rev 2, 1 board assembly is done, validation this Saturday

Pilot Training - Foam Plane

  • Crashed right after the throw ggs

  • we used same prop as houston, see data highlighted in red below

  • should we calibrate ESC beforehand? if so how to calibrate?

 

  • Lesson learned:

    • not enough thrust, next flight we can use smaller 3s battery, 2 props to save weight and generate more thrust

    • do outside full prop test

  • next foam plane flight test:

    • buy off the shelf foam plane

    • takes around 2 weeks to arrive, probably during reading week

    • should be able to house px6 and other electronics.

  • Foam plane program

    • request funding for engsoc and weef and mef

    • help people learn plane control
