At the 14th Unmanned Systems Canada Student UAS Competition held in Alma, Quebec, the Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG), representing one of our Student Design Teams, joined seven other university teams from across Canada to fly their drones!

The Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG) achieved first place in the presentation of their VTOL (Vertical Take-Off Landing) drone, named Project ICARUS, and secured third place in the first task of the competition. Throughout the event, the team gathered valuable insights on improving their work flow and fortifying their position for the next competition. These crucial lessons encompassed various aspects, ranging from optimizing material selection to streamlining logistical processes.

The contest team, comprising the talented individuals **insert comp people**, demonstrated exceptional perseverance during the competition by flying Project ICARUS. Their determination in overcoming the challenges encountered including reducing the weight off the drone after being too heavy, along with conducting proper and safe flight tests earned them the Pip Rudkin Memorial Award for Perseverance.
