Tracking Antenna

Tracking Antenna GPS Mount

Sohee Yoon

Task Description

Design and 3D print a GPS mount that will be mounted on the tracking antenna base plate.

Here is the link to the GPS https://holybro.com/products/micro-m10-m9n-gps

Currently the EE team is using a cots one (the red one mounted right now with Velcro and a breadboard) but they are looking to transition to a custom one.

Not sure if it came with a case or not…confirmation will be made soon (did not come with the case)

Mount Design Progress

Rough CAD model has been drafted though I am having difficulties saving the files to PDM and am unsure how to get my design reviewed.

Design Review:

  • Overall amazing job on the mount! I like how it replicated the case the website sells and the bottom stand offs are a great idea. I just had a few suggestions on the design:

    • It would be nice to have 30.5 x 30.5 mm M3 mounting holes on the other side too, just to secure the mount to the plate. Because of this change, we won’t need the slot/hole and pin on that side

    • I’m a bit concerned the cutout for the connection might be too small because the original case CAD had these dimensions 10.15 mm x 3.75 mm (I think your height was slightly below that), so maybe changing the dimensions so that we have enough clearance would be great (like below)

  • The cutouts on the top part is really nice, maybe we could add them on the bottom part too

  • Pins to align the board is a smart idea! But you’ll need some tolerance for them (right now the hole on the board and pin are the same size, but when you 3D print it won’t fit properly). The sizes on the original case CAD is 1.3 mm in diameter for the pin (red section below) and the hole on the top mount is 1.4 mm in diameter. We can try these dimensions out first and print to see how it fits
