GOAL - Develop awareness and knowledge about simulation (FEA, CFD), how to use ANSYS to simulate WARG aircraft, and how to apply the results to create a better-performing design.

đź“‹Â Roadmap
Week-based roadmap. Provides 2 weeks on CFD intro, 2 weeks on FEA intro, with background tasks in Pegasus simulations. If there is interest and bandwidth, a fixed-wing development project, supported with wind-tunnel validation testing, may take place in late fall.
🔍 Detailed roadmap
Phase I: Ansys Workshops
Will introduce and provide the tools for interested members to use Ansys and have a sense of whether or not the simulation is providing usable results.
This will take place in 2 primary workshops - Ansys CFD, and Ansys FEA. The first workshop may also include broader details like why we even care about simulations in the first place (and other types of simulation software, resources).
Progress will be tracked via discord/asana. Follow-up meetings for each workshop will probably not be scheduled unless there is a need.
Expected outcome:
~2-6 members are attending the workshops and actively participating. They are given a follow-up task to be delivered before the next workshop date and are free to take on their own simulation tasks. They will be able to provide insight on comparing different designs.
Phase II: Pegasus Integration
Will involve attending all relevant meetings to do with Pegasus airframe and cabin. Aspects of the frame will be analyzed. It may be supplemented with wind tunnel testing in the best-case scenario.
Expected outcome:
Participating members will be able to contribute meaningfully to the Cabin on Pegasus.
Phase III: Fixed Wing Development - Optional
Participating members will design a fixed-wing plane. The entire design process will be followed, and simulation data will be supplemented with wind-tunnel testing.
Expected outcome:
WARG’s first * optimized * plane will be prototyped by end-of-term, with 2-4 people running the project. It will continue development in later terms.
