Purpose
This page seeks to define what it means to be a member of WARG for the purposes of tracking on the team roster, financials, and outreach. This definition was agreed upon by the leadership team in F23 and should be discussed before major modifications.
Requirements
A person is a “member of WARG” if and only if they meet all of the following requirements:
Must be a current University of Waterloo Student
This is also documented in the bootcamper onboarding document
This means some advisors who are not current students we do not count as members.
Have completed Bootcamper Onboarding
All requirements in this document must be completed.
Have completed at least one subteam bootcamp found in https://uwarg-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BOOT
If you meet all the requirements in this document then you classify as a member of that subteam
Have completed New Member Onboarding
All requirements in this document must be completed.
Attend at least one subteam meeting for the school term
Online or in person
Attendance means being present for at least a few minutes
Fill out the team roster this term
This should be done only after the other requirements of this document have been met
Good character as evaluated by the leadership team
The team will clearly inform you if you do not meet this requirement (by default you meet this requirement!).
This will not come out of the blue, ample warning will be given please do not be in fear. You’re welcome to ask the leadership team questions regarding this and the following pages may be a good place to start quelling any fears:
This is only used in extreme circumstances, but it is a right the leadership team holds within Team Charter
False Claims
Do not falsely claim to be a member of WARG on social media (i.e. LinkedIn) or your resume. It’s embarrassing and we will call you out on it. Please see https://tinyurl.com/SahilDanielResumeGuide for further information on truthfulness.
If you spot or suspect anyone of falsely claiming their involvement with WARG please report to our leadership team via Email .
Copy pasta for messaging people about their false claims (because yes unfortunately this does happen…) to approach it with respect but also some sternness is below. If this is not met with compliance more sternness is warranted. Also, if no luck some platforms feature a report option. Naming and shaming is permissible provided private attempts were met with hostility and the leadership team is in agreement.
Hey <name>, saw your <Linkedin profile or resume> and not trying come after you too hard but wasn't a fan of your description for your involvement with WARG. Currently it states you're a <position> working <project> whereas it's my understanding you <have not even joined the team by completing a bootcamp or aren’t actually doing these things>. It's totally chill just please get it updated ASAP.
