Discord Invite
Introduction
Refer people to the WARG join page which contains (ideally) the only valid join link for our server: https://www.uwarg.com/join . This is to ensure people who join the Discord are serious about joining the team and going through a bootcamp. Aka we want to force people to follow the proper New User Join Experience flow as much as possible. If anyone has questions as to why we do things this way, please link them this page. In some edge case I haven’t though about you can send the link that is off the website: https://discord.com/invite/rqMEV3m3hh
The only invite should be:
Guidelines for Leads
Please do not generate any invite links to the WARG Discord server. The permissions should be set so that only directors can do this (so leads don’t do it on accident before finding this policy), but if you’re a director be sure to follow the spirit of this document.
Issues & Resolutions
Sometimes people have issues with our official link. Please check #verification channel to see when the most recent person joined the server. If it’s recently then safe to assume (assuming that the only link in existence is this one) that the link is working fine. Ask people to clear cache, use another browser, or use another device as a first step toward fixing. Every once in a while people do have issues, I’m not sure what causes it, but it is on their end and not ours.
More context can be found here.
There are plenty of example emails in our Email for how to respond but a simple copy pasta response to people is given below:
We've had issues similar to this in the past. People have joined our server recently using the link on our website so we believe the issue is on your end. Please try using incognito mode, a different device, or a different browser and you should have more luck with the link on our website. Discord is our center for communications so we really want to get you in there! If you still have issues after trying these things, please let us know and we will help you look into it.
