WARG points to bring up

  • Sharing resources

  • Wind tunnel time? Get a contact for this?

  • Via email:

    • sync on your competition goals and (potentially) sharing resources, since we both build, design, and fly unmanned aerial vehicles, and are both looking to advance into international competition in the near future.

Emma & Josh team captain (josh tech director)

Thomas finance & business lead

Thomas onsite next term, emma josh not on-site next term. There are other team-members that will be on-site.

Not actively recruiting, trying to establish the team to work towards competition in march && after comp, start recruiting. Team is fairly small, just started in may.

We have overlap, not significant overlap. Makes fixed wing planes and focused on aero design. Entering Micro class. (3ft wingspan, carry optimized payload). Focusing on for 2024 (new team, easier to get into and takes a little while to get established). Want to move to advanced class for 2025 (skip regular class - has many restrictions eg can’t use composites).

depending on how do - team decides wht to do. Don’t want to compete in regular class.

Approaching simulation pphase, lots of team members were in school over the summer and modellling the entire drone (end of september). Semi-advisor in fluid mechanics research group.

Fluid mechanics research group. // graduate students

Serhiy Yarusevych, PhD - syarus@uwaterloo.ca, head of fluid mechanics research lab

Delta wing, need some level of stabilization. For micro class, just need an IMU. for 2024 comp just manually controlled.

Competition in march, conops not released. Hopefully released soon.

Reach out to composites lab.
