Landing Pad Footage

We have footage of all the requirements from GoPro and PiCam

  • Takeoff & landing in quad

  • Flight over pads at different altitudes

  • Landing pads on different terrains

  • Obstacles in the frame

    • Trees, bags, etc.

  • Grouped landing pads

  • Was the test successful? What was achieved (or not achieved)?

Telemetry

Data is sent and received from the aircraft

  • Testing datastream over RFD900x

    • Characterize data rate & packet loss at various altitudes & distances over different terrain

  • Test connection stability around obstacles and terrain

Video Transmission

Stable, low latency video is received from the aircraft that a pilot can use for flight

  • Testing stability with lots of communication interference

🗺️ Flight Plans

Location: field by the James Downey Wy and Laurelwood Dr intersection

Getting footage of 2 landing pads (One blue, one orange):

  • Put the landing pads 10m away from each other?? (not sure what the competition requirements are for how close they’ll be, hopefully that’s reasonable)

    • Place it in a grassy area on the field (not too close to the shrubs/trees)

  • Get footage of the drone flying over the landing pads at a constant-ish altitude

    • Until the landing pads would go out of sight in the footage

      • get footage at low, medium, high altitudes

  • Get footage of the drone flying upwards (just like flying up) over the two landing pads

    • Get footage of the drone landing on the blue landing pad

Get footage of one blue landing pad placed 2m, 5m, 10m away from shrub(s) or tree(s) (if you could get footage with different clusters of shrubs/trees, that would be great)

  • Fly around the landing pad and upwards/downwards to get footage of landing pad + the “obstacles” at different altitudes
