Overview

This guide is intended for mechanical subteam members who wish to access an academic version of Ansys (not the same as student edition).

 

Instructions

  1. Go to Home Page - Ansys Customer Portal. Create an Ansys account if you do not have one. You can use your uwaterloo email. For account number enter: 1128990

    1. Note: The account number is the same as the customer number that is assigned and emailed by Ansys to whoever reached out to Ansys.

  2. In the customer portal, navigate to ‘Downloads’ >> ‘Current Release’

  3. You can download the automated Ansys installer, or separate packages.

  4. Open the automated installer, and follow the steps that are provided. The download may take a while.

  5. After installation is complete, search ‘Ansys Licensing Settings’ in the windows search bar and open it as administrator. At this point, ensure that you are connected to Zerotier VPN.

  6. Make sure that ‘Enabled’ is turned on under Flexnet Publishers > License servers. Enter the license server details as shown below. Hit ‘Test’ to see if it returns any connection errors. If there are no errors, click ‘Save’.

If you receive errors when trying to save the license server settings, or you get an error when opening Ansys workbench while the server is active ensure the following TCP and UDP ports are unblocked through the firewall: 2325 & 1055.
