Pegasus/Competition Updates

  • Brief overview of competition tasks

  • Last term the plan was to land on the barrel

  • At the end of term flight test, we realized the tuning is not reliable enough for this and if the drone clips the barrel, its ggs

  • Now we will be doing a winch that lowers the pump

  • A new pump is needed, servo will likely be controlled by Pixhawk. Worst case we do an single servo driver

  • 1-2 servos needed

  • If someone wants to help with this you are welcomeWas testing a new pump, looks a lot better than the old one

  • We will need 12V on the drone.

    • Must check if PDB has enough current for 12V

    • If not we need a 48-12V buck

      • We have one that we made but it blew up.

        • Anyone wanna look into cap filtering?

    • Alternatively we can buy one off the shelf

  • Still need to do an analysis on if the pix can support another 1-2 Servos

Eclipse Updates

  • 12V -> 5V @ 4A Buck Converter + ELRS Receiver board 1 & 3 not working, board 2 link drops

    • Need to order extra SX1281 RF IC & U.FL connectors to diagnose if it was an assembly issue

      • booting up without an antenna connected may have killed LNA due to high-Z power reflection

        • there was no ESP firmware when I did this on accident after assembly, but it’s still possible…

    • Otherwise out of ideas on this one… try different antennas? 😞

  • Did some math and found a few COTS options, updated confluence page, would like someone to review if the calculations/reasoning is right

    PSU is rated for up to 480 W at 12V DC, so for maximum charging capability we would get a convertor that can handle 480 W

  • Might be able to get this for ~$50 on AliExpress

    • How fast do we care about charging the batteries? (how much power/current)

    • Which option to choose depends on PSU

  • We’re using the 12V PSUs that are currently wired to the chargers. What is the output power rating?

  • How much current do the batteries need to be charged with? Charger has 4 channels, up to 15A each
