Project Manager Onboarding

Overview

This document introduces Project Managers to their new role, general information and includes checklist for a smooth on-boarding process.

The process of becoming a PM is outlined in How to become a Project Manager?

Todo Checklist:

As a PM, you have access to more of the team’s resources, SDC room codes and important team credentials.

  1. Resubmit team roster with respect to your new role as a PM!

  1. Ensure you have the applicable Discord roles

  2. You must have a “Project Manager” role and a “[Subteam specific] Project Manager”

  3. Review info in #logins and #rooms

    1. this contains the passwords that WARG controls, and codes for SDC rooms and the Bay

    2. Only some PMs are given access to these. Confer with your subteam leads for details

    3. If you have permissions To log into WARG Outlook/Onedrive

      1. credentials are in #logins

      2. you need to add your device to 2FA 2FA Self-Service Enrolment - University of Waterloo (uwaterloo.ca)

      3. someone who already has 2FA must approve the first time you login. Then, you can add your own device to 2FA. If you ever get locked out you will need someone else to 2FA you again. Luckily a lot of us are on the 2FA and this shouldn’t block you from doing anything. If you ever need 2FA, ping executive directors immediately and if they’re not answering promptly then go to subteam leads.

      4. it is recommended that you use a different browser for WARG Onedrive to avoid difficulties

  4. Ensure you are added to your subteam specific lead channel

    1. for example, if you are a Mechanical project manager, then you must be in #mech-leads channel

    2. you do not have access to other subteam lead channels

  5. MANDATORY: Review Internal Purchase Protocol and familiarize with purchasing and reimbursement processes
