Overview
The team charter specifies the goals and structure of the Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group.
This document is in effect starting 2024-06-28 and requires a unanimous vote of WARG leadership to update. Previous version: Team Charter (2021-2024) .
Identity
The Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group is a student design team under the Sedra Student Design Centre at the University of Waterloo (UW).
The full formal name is “Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group”, and is abbreviated as “WARG” (preferred) and “UWARG”.
Purpose
WARG’s purpose is to:
Enable UW students to learn about and develop innovative new aerial robotic solutions through collaboration and non classroom instruction
Expose UW students to engineering challenges, such as mechanical, electrical, and controls
Expose UW students to organizational procedure, such as project management, documentation, finance, fundraising, and marketing
Provide UW students the opportunity to work with academic and industry professionals advising WARG
Leadership
The WARG leadership is composed of Directors and Subteam Leads.
Being promoted to any WARG leadership role requires at least 2/3 majority anonymous vote by current WARG leadership.
Director
Directors are also known as “Team Leads”.
Directors are expected to:
Manage the subteam leads
Direct WARG programs
Promote a culture of learning and engineering
Maintain relations with other organizations
Subteam Lead
Subteam leads are expected to:
Manage and mentor subteam members
Implement WARG programs
Resolve engineering conflicts
Coordinate with other subteams
