Battery Management System

Principle Objective:

  • Design a battery management system for our rotorcraft vehicle, Project VANGUARD

Requirements:

  1. The system shall be able to accommodate 24V

    1. Stems from being able to accommodate a 6s battery

  2. The system shall be capable of calculating currents of up to 40 A continuous

    1. The requirement stems from Motor Calculations

Goals:

Rev 1:

  • The system will accommodate requirements (1) and (2)

  • The system shall utilize an IC capable of monitoring at least 6 cells, and provide passive balancing and current sense capabilities for SOC estimation.

    1. Other features such as over/under protection are not currently necessary.

Rev 2:

  • TBD given results from Rev 1
