Flight Card 1

Eclipse Maiden

What is being tested?

  • Eclipse airframe to be flown for the first time!

Hardware to be installed, items to bring, batteries, etc (change status to success when installed or plan for installing at flight test is done)

  • 2x 6s batteries

  • Battery positioned for optimal CoG

FLIGHT CARD 1 PROCEDURE

Procedure

Goals / Objectives

Knockoff criteria

  1. Ground checks

Verify plane is fully functional:

  • Control surface check in MANUAL

  • Response check in FBWA/FBWB

  • Arm and full throttle check

  • VTX check

Any check failed and unable to resolve on flight line.

  1. Takeoff

Takeoff in FBWA.

Climb forwards into a right or left hand turnout to the upwind leg of the circuit.

Unable to takeoff/too unstable to fly.

  1. Free Flight

Switch to FBWB.

Perform any test maneuvers.

 

  1. Circuit

Enter circuit on downwind, ensuring in CRUISE_SPEED.

Start descending on base turn.

Once turned and established onto final, switch back into FBWA.

 

  1. Landing

Maintain a stable final into the aimpoint.

Once above the aimpoint, flare and maintain as much noseup as possible without tailwheel touching first.

Keep control of the plane using ground steering.

 

  1. Taxi Back

Taxi back to the launch position.

Unsure of state of plane and deem it not safe to taxi.

FLIGHT CARD 3 PROCEDURE

Knockoff criteria

  1. Setup IR beacons and measure GPS coords. Setup Peggy and VTX

Run cluster estimation with picamera with IR bandpass filter

Unstable flight, not responding to inputs, or other errors

  1. Take off and reach 15 m or 20 m altitude

Prove the VTX with Pi analog display works

 

  1. Fly in pattern to cover total area

 KML messages over MAVLink works

 

  1. Identify beacons through VTX and ensure location can be captured

Test if there are any false positives for detection

 

  1. Land

  • Eclipse

  • 2 6s 4500mah batteries for Eclipse

  • 8 6s 6200mah batteries for Pegasus 2

  • 4 3s batteries for X500

  • 2 3s batteries for VTX
