Task Progression/Updates

Initial Design

H24_RANGEFINDER_P001_MOUNT
  • Can be found in Houston → Electronics Mounts → Rangefinder

  • Pretty simple design that would just bolt on the underside of the Houston landing gear mounting plate

  • Note: I have included a rough sketch of the Rangefinder’s outline for reference

  • Added some simple weight savings (who doesn’t like weight savings)

  • Important: This would require some new holes on the mounting plate but there’s plenty of space for it to be implemented

    • I have quickly modelled a possible location for it (although this can really go anywhere) and the new plate can be found in the Houston folder

    • In this current location, it should be possible for Rangefinder’s cable to pass through the weight saving holes (not sure if thats wanted)

Design Review:

  • I included a picture of the 1D lidar (refer to the component on the left, the right one is a FPV camera).

  • You can add small spacers to the face that would be in contact with the lidar so the electrical harness supplying power to the lidar is not interfered by the 3D printed mount. I circled the region in red. (If you disagree lmk)

Revision 1:

  • Add some spacing (2mm) to prevent any contact of the electrical harness

Author: @Nathaniel Li Date: Mar 11, 2024

Revision 2:

  • Added more spacing around edges for strength

  • Replaced 3 rectangular cuts with one larger rectangular cut
