"Claw Machine" Concept

Criteria:

  • Box is max 20cmx20cmx20cm and 2kg

  • Probably not less than 20cmx10cmx10cm

About the design:

  • Uses flexible PETG to wrap around the object

  • Similar to a claw machine it would allow us to lower the package into the barrel

  • meant to ‘scoop’ up a packet while deforming around it for stable conditions

Minimum grip ~0.5in

 

Maximum grip ~9in

Grip size can be adjusted easily based on requirements.

 

Feasibility:

  • Currently the lower arms aren’t rigid enough to support 1kg. I’ll increase the thickness and re-print

  • Lower arms have good flexibility to wrap around shapes from 2” to 6” which includes rectangular and circular objects

  • More claws = more grip. May have to upgrade to a 15lb linear actuator

  • Testing 5mm lower claws to see if they have a good amount of flex to stiffness
