2024-11-06 Pegasus Payload & Landing Gear + Eclipse CAD review

lFixed Wing

Frame

  • Thin the bottom plate out as space for two batteries is no longer needed

    • Use landing gear screw for spacer that overlaps that space

  • Add cheesing to gussets possibly

  • Cheesing to tail boom and add mounting hole for standoff and rangefinder

  • For motor mount ensure there is a normal or loose fit for holes that motor mounts to as the bending will not be exact

Wings

  • Test the effect of adding cutout on monokote tensioning

Landing Gear

  • Double check size of bolt for mounting

  • Test with 14 GA aluminum

  • Ready by end of week

Empennage:

  • Monster mount for the rangefinder and servo module

  • Servo placement

  • Design must be ready by Nov 13

Pegasus Payload

Heli-bucket solution:

  • Mounting the top lid of the payload to the carbon fiber tube, same with bottom disk

    • use bolts

  • Adding spacers to the aluminum frame that mounts the payload to the center block

  • Using bowden cables to actuate the payload

  • flanges to top servo spool

Water tank solution:

  • 2.7 L internal volume > 2.5 L

  • Change bolts attaching the top plate and the tank to M3 instead of M5s

  • Polycarbonate for the top plate

    • look for gaskets instead of a funny o-ring

  • Float sensor to measure water level for payload

  • Chamfer the tube piece

  • flip the counter-sink screws

  • Maybe countersink the top plate, maybe not. Easier to manufacture if no countersink. ALso need to add space for the socket heads at the drone center block.

Angled landing gear changes:

  • Update landing gear angle so there is enough clearance b/w the servo and the top of the barrel - Heli bucket solution

  • adding a second pump to the angled landing gear

Anti-tipping bar

  • make the hole for the downwards tube longer

  • use a bolt to lock the dove-tail instead of a pin
