Flight Test Notes

Second Flight Test (June 16, 2021)

Infinion flew twice (second resulted in a crash. Determined to be mechanical failure)

First test

  • ZP exclusively controlling aeleronsm, but with more aggressive PIDs (doubled control surface and used a proportional gain of 4)

  • 500 seconds of data gained. All axes for acc and gyro logged at 1 Hz

    • Need to convert the values from Hex to Floating Point (Note ARM is big endian)

  • Result:

    • Same behaviour as first test. Plane would bank and would not correct

Second Test:

  • ZP exclusively controlling elevators, but more aggressive PID (doubled control surface and proportional gain of 3)

  • No data collected as power disconnected after crash

  • Result:

    • Much more encouraging than first test

    • Aircraft would hold steady.

  • Crash during this test: mechanical failure caused by control rod bending

Future move: buy many new testing aircraft because we are running out
