Project Phoenix (mini drone)

  • she flew!!! flight test on Monday

  • worked as intended

  • flying for extended period of time

  • drop test from 1.5-2m

    • need to increase infill on dovetails

  • one of the legs snapped

  • acrylic epoxy seems to be coming loose

  • we need to have a method of harnessing to equip

  • machine a new set of arms with sheet metal

  • have a set of instructions and have a mech person join a meeting to teach firmware team how to build phoenix.

  • prop guards need to be finished

Feedback on meeting requirements for Phoenix

Insight: legs are easily replaceable, however arms are difficult to attach

Evidence: took very little time to replace two legs

Recommended Action: redesign arms to make it easy to replace, increase infill of dovetails, possibly revamp legs (beef them up)

Owner: @Julian Yam @Nicholas Rampertab

Insight: propellers were not protected

Evidence: prop guards have not been implemented

Recommended Action: finish design of prop guards

Owner: @Megan Spee

Insight: harnessing doesn’t exist rn

Evidence: it doesn’t

Recommended Action: implement harness either with like a tether or a rigid testbench

Owner: @Brielle Chenier @Jacob Gordon

Insight: mounting for ZP/nucleo, ESCs, and IMUs not ready

Evidence: no mounting holes have been made

Recommended Action: Make holes and source spacers when it is clear that they are ready to test

Owner: @Kevin Ma
