Draft Faculty Email

This is a draft of the email to be sent out to all major Engineering faculties during recruiting season. This should be done by relevant members of the team from the different faculties (e.g. Tron team members reach out to the relevant undergrad advisor to send this to all students of that faculty).

This is your chance to Join Waterloo's award winning Aerial robotics team and contribute in building a flying drone! 📢 Join

We are looking for new enthusiasts to join our team this term and work with any ( could be one or more) of our exciting sub-teams:

💡 Mechanical – Who works on the design, construction, and testing of remotely piloted aircraft! Gain exposure to the design process and make justifiable mechanical design decisions based on project limitations and requirements.

💡 Business and Operations – Help with sponsorship outreach, marketing campaigns and produce graphic designs. Gain both administrative and managerial experience as the designated support division for our technical subteams, ensure that the remainder of the team have access to sufficient resources to meet their project deliverables and succeed.

💡 Electrical – Design custom aircraft and flight circuitry, including flight controllers, motor controllers, voltage regulators and more. Learn the ins and outs of schematic and PCB design, manufacturing, and testing/validation.

💡 Embedded Flight Software – Develop custom flight software supporting sensor interfacing, controls, and autonomy. This includes writing state machines for path management and telemetry, writing sensor drivers, and implementing controls algorithms such as PID loops.

💡 Autonomy – Develop models & software for real-time object detection, simultaneous localization and mapping, as well as path planning and motion profiling. Write our custom Ground Station software that interacts with our aircraft in the air.

💡 Systems Integration – Ensure all subsystems interface effectively with each other and contribute to high level architecture and overall project management. This includes leading competition architecture meetings, post-competition analysis, and defining aircraft requirements.

We'll be happy to welcome new members with any level of experience because WARG is all about creating, encouraging and learning.

As long as you're a student, you can fly off with us!
