Eclipse Landing Gear V2

@Smile Khatri

Task Description

The current front landing gear for Eclipse deforms easily when the plane taxis. The front landing gear is made out of 14 GA sheet metal (maximum allowable aluminum GA that can be bent in the ESMS). The objective of this task is to design a rigid landing gear, which also maximizes shock absorption at the front landing gear.

You are encouraged to use first principles, and basic load calculations to justify your design. If using FEA, the FEA results must be validated through hand calculations or prototyping testing. FEA results alone are not sufficient to prove that the design works.

Height of the landing gear must remain the same (unless a valid reason is provided). Height can be measured from the axle to the point where the landing gear is mounted to the frame.
