Overview of post-comp mech projects

@Smile Khatri

  • Improvements to Pegasus 2.0

    • new mounts

    • Weatherproofing

  • Fixed-wing program

    • this month will mostly be R&D. Looking into manufacturing processes

    • more tasks on the way. Leads and directors need to scope out requirements and specific details

  • Houston

    • Houston is our test airframe. We (mostly) test various sensors and electronics on Houston before putting it on the main drone

    • some tasks relating to making a new Houston airframe coming soon!

TASKSSS

  • Weatherproofing Pegasus 2

    • High-complexity task, involves CAD design and will require R&D into different manufacturing methods. I want this to look clean as possible so please spend some time on it.

    • Some ideas… thermoforming? Fiber glass layup? Layup with another type of material?

    • Open to have multiple people work on this, more exchange of ideas

    • Weatherproofing Dome - Mechanical - WARG (atlassian.net)

  • Motor mounts with shields

  • Researching potential airfoils for our fixed-wing

    • R&D, learn about different airfoil shapes, document them.

    • @Sohee Yoon will be PMing wings

    • Feel free to test and play around with simulations with different airfoil shapes. Ping @Smile Khatri or @Evan Janakievski for any assistance with CFD

    • Air Foil Design - Mechanical - WARG (atlassian.net)

  • Houston Pixhawk mount

    • Design a proper mounting solution for Pixhawk (our flight controller) on the Houston drone

    • Prefer someone onsite to take this task, will need to take dimensions for mounting hole

    • Pixhawk CAD can be found in PDM

    • Pixhawk Mount - Mechanical - WARG (atlassian.net)
