Comp 2025 | IR Camera Mount | @Nathaniel Li |
Task Description
Autonomy needs to use the IR camera so we’re looking to mount it onto https://uwarg-docs.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AQDloQ which has mounting holes that are ready to use.
Design a mount for the IR camera so that it uses the mounting holes and doesn’t require the use of glue or zip-ties (Ie. fasten it properly).
Here’s the link to the camera: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/raspberry-pi/SC0873/17278646
Additionally there is already a mount being used for the IR camera which you can use for inspiration, but note that it requires the IR camera to be zip-tied or glued in (not ideal).

Task Progression/Updates

Initial Design
Created an initial design which can be 3D printed and can be bolted (not glued) to the monster mount.
The plan is to use M2 SHCS to attach the camera to the four pegs which are acting as spacers and connect them to hex nuts on the other side.
This subassembly will then mount on to the main mount using M2.5x12mm bolts and nuts.

Created a modified copy of Arnav’s design, with less material. We can even forego the bridge in the middle, and print this part as two separate halves.
Created a subassembly with the camera mounted, as described in Arnav’s update. In this subassembly, the two mount designs can be swapped for comparison.

CAD Review 1
Looks good @Arnav Gupta @Khalil Ramzi
I added nuts to the assembly but otherwise everything was done great
Let’s go ahead with the modified mount to save some weight
We can get this printed

Created another copy that aligns the camera’s fov with the front of the drone, as per the feedback from @Evan Janakievski
