    • we cant throw a pizza party with this, but we can pretty much buy whatever we want with this

  • Weef / Eng Soc

    • specific purchases, we have to get allocated in advance

    • weef will never approve travel, engsoc doesnā€™t provide that much

    • weef you can do reallocations if you don't use the funds before they expire

  • Deans funding

    • 7.5k max, we got 5k

    • its based on merit though decently distributed, average teams get 5-5.5k

  • For cold emails we have a list of companies, and templates, but it never actually got done

Retention and Recruitment

  • how to idk motivate people? what motivates us?

    • incentives on volunteer team ???

    • non in-person meetings preventing business from bonding / building relation

    • why do people join business?

      • resume

      • connections

      • soft skills

    • orbitals and other sdc teamā€™s business team is entirely virtual and they have high retention

    • on any team, you need incentives to increase productivity

  • more in-person meetings

    • build interpersonal connection

    • people from other subteams helping with business stuff?

      • more crossover from other teams may help

      • although this isnā€™t very common on other teams

      • people helping business not like converting people

  • Too much division between business and the rest of the team?

    • Integrate business with subteams by allowing business team members to reach

  • business is in kind of a support role compared to the other teams

    • we are not a finance/business club, we are an engineering team

  • reaching out to more other subteam members to assist business

    • 1. Recruitment as top priority

      • recruitment is like fishing

      • play the numbers game

      • business specific recruitment

        • most active members we have right now are in AFM

        • sahil thinking SYDE + ARTS&Business + management engineering as well

        • WUSA & SDC have a big divide, but business focused people go toward WUSA side and eng people go to SDC side, so we need to tap into the WUSA side of things

        • this all turns into work for jenny, we need to play the numbers game, focus on most likely pool of candidates

        • recruitment isnā€™t that much work?

          • images can b copy paste & waterever, just repost existing content

          • therefore we should recruit everywhere

        • there is no SDC event this term

        • must use content to recruit!

        • Jenny has access to WUSA social media so can repost us

        • posters + socials + email

        • Email profs to share our recruitment posts

        • be clear with recruitment, set a day and in-person meeting for new recruits

          • give people a sense of direction

          • have a blanket introduction meeting for S22

          • we need better onboarding experiences that are less confusing

      • sahil + shrin run logistics for an onboarding meeting

        • sahil does graphic design?

      • financial sponsorship stuff shrin and sahil can also help with stuff temporarily as we build the business team

      • logistics is a major responsibility of business

        • low priority for now

        • for fall term we can rediscuss on this note

      • business team needs more structure/organization, more divisions?

        • anything that isnā€™t technical is businessā€™s job

        • start small and then build up to these responsibilities

      • this meeting takes so many turns idk how to structure these notes, I feel bad for whoever is reading this, hopefully nobody lol

        • because competition is very relevant we should be posting about it on socials

        • my (daniel)'s idea for merch is poloā€™s with a nice collar that are semi formal

          • would compliment our lineup well

      • team restarted with very few people, this is def doable

      • if we are prioritizing learning and stuff some business people want to learn stuff

      • reoganizing subteam guidelines and stuff, make recruiting UX more user friendly
