Meeting overview

Meeting to discuss state of Competition Aircraft big quad.

  • Motors/props arrived

  • Timeline review → things to flight test when.

 Open action items

@EE to look at connectors for motor 3-phase

@Mech to send EE basic X-frame layout so that EE can come up with wiring diagrams/channels.

@Anni to look at static load testing

@Conall Kingshott look at talking to bryan about composites

  • point landing gear, not T

  • Alu cube now on bottom plate, not top plate.

EE

EE look into how you’re planning to connect the motors.

  • decide whether to use bullet connectors to motor end or just soldering

  • also sourcing wires for these. proper spec and not overweight

  • make sure you can’t flip the 3 phase whenever you unplug and re-plug

    • also consider if you need to switch out completely new motors

  • think about how the motors are terminated - currently just bare wires

    • make a cost balance analysis of the options, put this into architecture document

Where should electronics go (diagram)?

Action items to be turned into asana tasks

  1. find out what connectors you need to use. MT30s, MT60s

    1. check out the specs to make this decision

prelim EE drawings

Mounting notes

  • FPV camera cannot be mounted in front of the batteries slot, the location of battery shown in stream during meeting

  • If ESC mounting doesn’t matter much, let mech lay them out

  • wires crossing over things?

  • if you need to replace an ESC, is resoldering them preferred, or another connector on the ESC side

option - embedding the MT60/30 or other connector directly into the aluminum cube or the end of the arm

Issues

  • the current setup is the CF tube goes on top of the alu insert. no place to add inserts.

The square hole in the bottom of the CF plate is 30 mm side length

Option:

  • leave a bit of slack out of the alu insert by a couple inches with a connector on the end

  • have a wire and a connector also in the CF tube.

  • load the CF tube halfway into the frame, reach in, plug the arms in, and then slide the arms the rest of the way on

should potentially think about needing auxiliary power for actuation required by the competition

at least 5-8 amps for dirty power.

this is OUTSIDE the VTX and whatever else that needs clean power

also the VTX is huge

where are sensors going? - conclusions

  • the M9Ns (gps) on the ends of the plate

  • ESCs nobody cares

  • the lidar, op flow, fpv cam downwards - should be pointed down, but doesn’t need to be located at 0.0000deg down

  •
