Meeting Times
Board bring up Status
Please update test plans/board documentation!
Board Name | status | blockers | plan going forward |
---|---|---|---|
Tracking antenna | assembled SMT components on 2 boards |
| continue debugging and document process |
ESC CAN | Assembled SMT components on all 5 boards Resoldered some components that did not reflow well/had some minor issues (mainly the STM32) Validated continuity + potential shorts, no perceivable issues so far Added BM06 Connectors EFS did some initial testing with the board (with more to come) and MCU is talking and working at the moment. | Waiting for EFS to do comprehensive test to ensure full functionality - needed for all 5 boards with only one being tested currently | Support EFS with anything needed/required on EE side of things |
LED Lighting REV3 | Assembled 1 side (MCU + CAN circuitry) Cleanup on STM32’s done earlier today during work session - no issues on validation side so far | Need NEOPIXELS to come in for the other side of the board | Wait for NEOPIXELS to come in ~2 weeks then assemble the other side |
6S Servo Module | Assembled SMT components except for Neopixel for 1x 6s Servo board | no neopixel | rework stm
|
GPS Breakout | Assembled | can’t find GPS board that needs to be soldered on, ask autonomy? | |
Single Servo Driver | not started |
|
Bring-up Tasks
In order of priority.
CAN DSHOT Controller
Tracking Ant Controller
PRIORITY ASAP
EFS person bust so we have bought a little time
Issue with buck IC
Enable pin not working?
QFN package causing issues
LDO into Buck is working - subsequent systems not working
More debugging to come
Maybe a short?
More testing today, feel free to come!
RPi Interface Rev B
2 boards assembled and tested
@Daniel Puratich for details
rpi rev b needs software to validate uart killswitch, power is all working as expected on both boards, plz relay to autonomy
Peggy 2 Lighting Board Rev 3
validate CAN circuit with CAN DSHOT Controller before assembling this
let’s assemble the bottom side this weekend?
other side need to wait for LCSC order
Daniel will participate in session for sure but would be nice if someone here to PM
Single Servo Module
for fixed wing, assemble before midterms
6S Servo Module
for fixed wing, assemble before midterms
Saw small power trace in schematic, tested and it seems fine. Might be worth another rev?
Can bring up with what we have
conclusion
bring up one, test with EFS
fix layout, order with midterm board order
12S Servo Module - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Jerry Tian
On hold to focus on comp critical Peggy 2 tasks.
Peggy 2/Comp Updates
@Jerry Tian For Peggy 2
Tracking antenna discussed above
Integrated Monitoring and Command Station Requirements (IMACS) - SysInt - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Nathan Green Do you wanna talk about this a bit?
IR filters don’t really work
Auto looking for new solution
Detect heat?
Come to comp sync
Video System installed on Drone
Camera wire length reworked, pending review from Nathan
Fixed Wing Updates - Fixed Wing 2025 - SysInt - WARG (atlassian.net)
Reminder: Our newest program
First arch sync of the term last week 2024-09-25 Fixed Wing Arch Sync - Meetings - WARG (atlassian.net)
Timeline: Finished end of term
Mech is cooking, see minutes
The below boards should be included
6S servo module
making new rev to be ordered with midterm board order
Single Servo Driver
should be good, needs assembly.
6S power module
highest risk
lowest necessity (RIP lol - Andrew)

Bootcamp Updates
Continue to pop off and ask questions in your bootcamp thread
General Tasks
In order of priority. These are the active design projects.
RPi Interface Rev C - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Daniel Puratich Project Manager, Principle Hardware Engineer
@Siddharth Muralikrishnan @Ahmed Osman @Anthony Lazar @Anthony Luo @Shawn Yang
coming along, schem long in a week and layout in another week seems doable
LTE Breakout - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
Canceled, now part of RPi Interface Rev C - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
green tasks need to be done → need a lot of new components for this board, anyone is welcome to take them, but I actually need these done
Most components added to Library
12V -> 5V @ 4A Buck Converter + ELRS Board - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Kenny NaEngineer
@Daniel Puratich PM
Layout in progress ~ 1 week, will be ready for midterm board order
24V->5V @ 5 A Buck Converter Board - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
Schematic is under review by Kevin
@Robert TangEngineer
@Kevin Li PM
Placement almost completed
Will be ready for midterm board order
Unified Video System - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Tom Chiu Individual Contributor
Layout revamped
New stackup will be
L1 - SIG/PWR
L2 - 2 signal traces, but otherwise, all GND
L3 - Uninterrupted GND
L4- SIG/PWR
Rerouted all signal traces on top and bottom layers with many via transitions. 2 signal traces remain on L2
I tried to ensure that the 2 traces on L2 did not lose gnd reference signal traces do not lose reference.
Removed 2 decoupling caps on the buck to save space.
Sourced a smaller linear regulator for the 12V-5V step down to save space as the current one is overkill based on the required power draw from it.
Please review whenever possible!
Worked with Jerry to understand the existing VTX system. Helped a bit with installation and creating the harness for PWM signal from pixhawk to lumenier switch board.
12S ESC - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Ethan Abraham Individual Contributor
Schematic nearly complete. Need to change MCU pinout to abide by AM32 hardware groups
Looking for a somewhat experienced EE to handle/help me with layout
ELRS Redundant Diversity RX - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Nolan Haines Individual Contributor
Schematic completed, starting placement
Doesn’t need help but might later with routing
Sensor Cluster - Electrical - WARG (atlassian.net)
@Michael Botros
Schematic done, implementing some schematic feedback from Daniel
So far no one else has left any schematic comments
Going to start layout likely this week
Pegasus wiring documentation
@Ahmed Osman @Jerry Tian
https://github.com/UWARG/hardware/tree/master/Harness schematic is here
Potential new project: Standard connectors fixed wing
VBat, CAN, 5V in one connector
Easily have everything together so it is easy to remove parts
Potential new project: Test Automation
Needs Assessment (comparing to the manual test procedure we have rn):
1. characterize our custom buck converter’s performance.
2. understand our designs more, help ee members learn
Load transient test is helpful on identifying issues if downstream board is brownout during flight test
Knowing efficiency of the bucks
3. efs running out of work to do
Jerry’s is too busy to work on this rn, will be on hold until he is more free
Action Items
@Jerry Tian will try to fix hot air gun, if not successful, he will write email to hakko for help
