General Updates

  • Lead Nomination form!

    • Last onsite lead term for @Ryan Scomazzon

    • Thanks to everyone who filled it out

    • We decided to pick two new leads

    • @Kenny Na Will replace me as primary on site lead for fall and will be starting very soon to slowly pick up things as I'm here.

    • @Andrew Chai Will be starting when I officially step down in the summer term.

  • Workseshes

    • This week we've finished setting some things up for comp testing, we fixed some ssd Boards and we verified 6S servo module (It works!)

    • The only pending comp task for us now is debugging broken lighting boards .

    • @Jerry Tian Please let us know if you need a session for Eclipse

    • @Santosh Erathasari been researching and reading documentation

  • MEGA worksesh Got cancelled

    • After thinking more about our goals we realized we wouldn't benefit a lot from multiple sub teams at one work session since the work that needs to be done is mostly subteam specific

    • Instead we ran a learning session to teach the team about important things for how to use the drone, Handle batteries safely, And form about system integration

    • This was recorded and is highly recommended you watch it if you missed it

    • As of this afternoon they were not uploaded yet but But Evan should upload them soon. I imagine he would put a link in the integration discord channel

    • 2 year gap becomes 1 year

  • Please put boards from your board order on the Github And move them to the ordered section on Altium if not already done

Pegasus/Competition Updates

  • 2025-03-10 Competition Architecture Sync - Meetings - WARG

  • Pumps are soldered and iron beacons are also soldered now we just have to debug the LED boards

  • It seems like a competition requirements allow for us to do multiple drones

    • This is the new plan

    • Fly three drones in task one this should not take much from electrical

      • Houston tuning drone and Cali drone

    • Fly 2 drones in task 2 and alternate water filling

      • Pegasus 1 and Pegasus 2

      • We will have to make another payload for Pegasus one for ee this requires a water controller board and wiring more pumps

        • How many water controllers did we make?

  • Upcoming Milestone: Proof of flight video

  • We got requirements for our presentation we give that competition it is like a sales pitch

  • Power Distribution Board (PDB) - Unarchived - Electrical - WARG

  • I (Andrew) finished 12S to 12V buck converter earlier this week

    • didn’t document it very much :// cuz I got lazy so I will add to the confluence with design decisions soon

    • Want to play around with sims and compensation feedback circuit to achieve better loop stability and gain margins, they’re a little whack at the moment

  • 5V and 3V3 bucks in progress, most of the design should be pretty easy to derive from the 12V buck

  • MCU + CAN interface copy pasted from ESC CAN Adapter - Electrical - WARG

  • 2-week schem timeline is looking decently realistic

  • Should schedule sync to talk about buck/SMPS design a little more

  • Sensing circuitry progress:

    • Looking into ICs for magnetic sensor

    • linear axis is chilling, will need space available directly on top of traces

    • or below but that is non-ideal. don’t want to try sensing on the side

    • with the current limit in mind, need to find a max Tesla value to pick the IC

      • maybe something with integrated SMBus

  • The buck I chose does not have a soft start (SS) pin so might be worth to look back into the pre-charge circuit

  • Did a preliminary placement to figure out sizing, decided not to hand layout off to you guys as the board is kind of complicated for knowledge transfer this late

  • BEMF sensing schematic complete. I think I will push current sense for FOC to a Rev. 2 for future (or for someone else…)

  • Want to do a simulation in SPICE to validate

  • Need to add a few more features I forgot and then review schematic

  • and replace with LCSC components for PnP (0402s!)

  • Aiming for EOT W25 completion
