2022/10/22 Project Timeline Discussion
attendees: @Megan Spee @Matthew Visser, cc:@Conall Kingshott
Competition Drone
6 weeks for airframe, comparable to competition model: airframe that meets comp guidelines. Done before end of year.
Â
Motor battery prop calculations Motor and Battery Calculations as a resource
mass: output of batteries vs weight of all batteries (balance)
list of hardware on the plane
material mass
time of flight
Â
Frame architecture
rectangular carbon fibre frame is popular (twin boom model), build plane off of this rectangle
will run discussion tomorrow for finalized model. things to finalize:
cabin layout: internals (must fit 6 barbies @Kayla Chenier bring barbies in tomorrow) + relation to wings
scale of plane (wingspan, nose-to-tail). approx. 2-3 meters ballpark wingspan
locations of motors (put numbers to it)
airfoil shape
how landing gear is attached
mass/materials for each part of the plane (density of our specific carbon fibre)
Interest in manufacturing (beg/threaten)
BRING/ACQUIRE cardboard for prototyping sizing
Â
CAD assembly - project manager @Conall Kingshott
reference person for the airframe assembly (fit parts on, etc)
Airframe CAD specific task signup (urgent this week)
running CAD work sessions this week (ping people on discord, it’ll be drop in, online/hybrid), every night of the week !!
Â
Bootcampers
check up on bootcampers (ryan), workshops/ help sessions, @Aaron Dyck (Deactivated)
action items
check in on bootcampers on mech-leads list
assess need for bootcamp help sessions/ cad workshops
mechanical role on discord!!
also if on the team, do the team roster sign up in announcements
Â
Shelfing mech work for phoenix. If necessary will revisit
Â
Â
groundstation
touch base on antenna tracking (deadline is end of year/ midway thru jan)
evaluate how necessary a tall tower is (how tall is tall enough) + durability in wind
containers: for airframe and groundstation, can get at same time, is not extremely urgent
